The article linked below is paywalled (although a three month trial only costs £1) however this statement from Chancellor John Healey caught my eye…
‘That means bringing down costs and bureaucracy, but also using institutions such as the National Wealth Fund to draw private capital into the industries and infrastructure Britain needs.’ John Healey, The Times, 31st October 2026
That gives me renewed confidence that the Chancellor and his governmental staff recognise the national importance of long duration energy storage and Invinity Energy Systems as a domestic manufacturer in particular.
I say that given the timely recent additional investment in Invinity by the National Wealth Fund, following soon after widely reported articles about Invinity questioning its British manufacturing base due to an ill-judged in my opinion Ofgem Cap & Floor Window 1 initial decision list largely backing Chinese manufactured lithium battery based projects.
As I have said recently, I suspect the National Wealth Fund may have approached Invinity about their latest significant investment given Invinity’s potential importance to the British energy system and domestic manufacturing base.
