Well this is the news I and many others have been waiting almost a year for, and certainly in my case expecting given the information in the public domain… the first of its kind automated wound imaging and assessment device has been granted US FDA approval!!!
Years of work by the dedicated team at Spectral AI and partners such as the US Government’s BARDA have put this relatively small company on the map, with a device that offers burn specialists and clinicians the opportunity to potentially improve patient outcomes and hopefully save time and money for all concerned.
Having invested as part of my ‘Less than $10k to $1 million’ challenge (plus additional shares) I now need to make decisions on whether to hold or sell. Clearly if the commercial opportunity for this company is advantageous as it appears, I suspect it won’t remain an $85m valued firm for long. It may not even remain independent. Especially given the work underway to reduce the size of the system to a handheld device to suit mobile and battlefield scenarios. Do we have the makings of the world’s first Tricorder here?!
Many thanks to u/iAnkou and u/CovertMidget for the heads up on the news. A special thanks also goes to u/Rare_Trick_8585 for bringing this company to my attention last year. 🫶
