* My original bullish $131 forecast was contingent upon strong revenue growth and GAAP profitability growing in tandem. And while both continued to grow strongly in year on year quarterly results since first writing my first article linked above, the momentum in the share price has been lost in part due to macro concerns, strong competition such as from SoFi, but also due to a recent revision down in full year revenue outlook by Upstart. While the latest outlook is about 2.5% higher than the $1.01 billion stated in Q125 results, it is now down 2% at $1.035 billion, from the $1.055 billion quoted in Q225 results. Any perceived imperfections are punished hard by the market. Even at $1.035 billion that would still be 62.5% growth on 2024’s full year revenue of $637 million.
