Minerals

Minerals such as vanadium and lithium have important uses for the modern economy with batteries being the largest demand for lithium¹ and in the years ahead I suspect that may also be the case for vanadium.

My interest in these minerals was piqued during Invinity Energy Systems’ financial year 2025 results webcast in June 2026, where Invinity’s President Matt Harper spoke of needing approximately 12,000 metric tonnes of vanadium during the multi-year deployment of their vanadium flow batteries for the Technology Centre Laufenburg project².

This compares to about 120,000 metric tonnes total global production according to Matt Harper and he expected the Laufenburg project to consume 2% to 3% of annual global production (presumably over three to four years). That’s for a single (albeit very large) project and therefore as the demand for vanadium flow batteries hopefully continues to grow in the coming years, so will the demand for additional vanadium extraction and processing.

Double Bubbler’s Positions: Australian Vanadium (AVL.AX) 50,000 shares. Average Buy Price: A$0.175 | CleanTech Lithium (CTL.L) 50,000 shares. Average Buy Price: £0.06 | Richmond Vanadium Technology (RVT.AX) 50,000 shares. Average Buy Price: A$0.15.

Double Bubbler’s Forecast: Not Stated – Too Much Uncertainty Currently

Double Bubbler’s Opinion: Arguably three high-risk pre-production mineral rights holders who may prosper if their claims are valid and they can successfully extract the resources and bring it to market.
