Musings: Double Bubbler takes another step into the light…

Xaffodd says I should apologise now to those that prefer cat videos instead of heartfelt and passionate words. So err, yes I apologise. Again. Incidentally we do have a very good cat video however donations towards the new Shielbridge Hall will eventually be required to prize from our grasp the funny video of our dearly loved, yet no longer with us feline family member. Watch this space. So…

… as I have mentioned to some today, I had an epiphany while stood outside in the raging ≈100mph winds of storm Amy on Friday evening, while shouting into the wind like a mad man with trees falling around me.

And as you‘ll know if you had the patience (and attention span – a crucial trait for a good investor by the way) to read my recent ‘I have a dream’ post, that I decided on Friday evening to bring together the separate parts of my life, as only by doing so can I reach the next stage of my adventures.

I revealed recently the area where I live, and the intention of my better half and I to help our community build a new Shielbridge Hall. One with perhaps a Gaelic and English name. That is just the beginning and I hope others will join us in these adventures. In revealing the community I live within I partially removed the anonymity which I have long valued. I have enjoyed being looked upon as no one (yes like Arya) for much of my life since I think some people treat you differently when they know you have made good money. That shouldn’t be the case as we are all equal when living an honest life, no matter what path we walk.

I also revealed more about our support for good causes in updates to my ‘Who is Double Bubbler?’ post. Including that my better half and I are partnered with Loch Aber Mòr (who I met with today at Glenfinnan). They and the other partners are doing some amazing work in the Highlands, and in time my better half and I will more meaningfully assist them through our Shieldwolf Foundation adventure now our confidence in them is growing. You’re doing well Abel. So, that’s another formerly separate part of my life, helping others in various ways, much as I try to do through my Double Bubbler persona.

And so the time comes to take another small step… my first name.

I am going to tell you my first name as it brings together another part of my life. My name is Mark, which means ’consecrated to the god Mars‘ and is associated with war and strength. I admit I often feel like I am not of this Earth so it is quite apt, but fortunately my war like tendencies are tamed by my better half!

I tell you my first name, as unusually for me, I use it publicly when writing for another charity my better half and I support in various ways; Moidart Coastal Rowing Club. It is a charity focused on bringing our community together through sport, while providing an enjoyable social side too. The club is fairly new and currently building their first skiff. I am telling you this as I have a favour to ask…

I am pleased to say that we heard today that the club has been chosen to be part of the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund (Cause ID: 98356). So, if you are British and shop at the Co-Op please choose Moidart Coastal Rowing Club as the cause you support. 🫶

What will the next step for Double Bubbler be one wonders. I am pondering a photo of me in my ‘shabby chic formal retail investor work day attire’ … i.e. my stripy dressing gown. We’ll see.

We come in pieces!
